Served as  Ohio  FFA  Alumni  Convention  Delegates

Mick Weber and Jan Weber, Jeff, Cathy and Vickie Nofziger, Gene and Donna Meller, John, Lexie and Jessie Poulson of the Pettisville FFA  Alumni Affiliate served as official delegates at the  40th  Ohio  FFA  Alumni  Convention  held in Columbus, Ohio on  Jan. 28, 2012.   The FFA Alumni  Association  is  an  organization  that  supports  and  serves  agricultural  education programs  and  the  FFA  in  Ohio  and  across  the  nation.

FFA  Alumni  delegates,  representing  over 80  affiliates,  were  present  to  conduct  the business  of  the over 4000 member  Ohio  FFA  Alumni  Association.   A Silent Auction was conducted  to  raise  money  for  FFA  scholarships  and  leadership  projects.

The Pettisville Affiliate is 172 members strong and conducted the following activities this past year:  Pumpkin Fest, Science Fair Hog Roast, trophies for the Jr. Fair,  chaperoning state and national activities, helping students attend WLC, camp and leadership days, giving two college scholarships, awarding proficiency and graduate awards and assisting with FFA Week activities.

The Affiliate was also recognized for 3rd place in the Agricultural Education Promotional Award, 3rd place for their Scrapbook and 5th place for their Affiliate Basket.  They will receive a camp scholarship for being named an Affiliate Leadership Growth Affiliate.

FFA  Alumni  Affiliates  were  formed  to  operate  in  support  of  the  over  7,487  local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.   Their purpose is to help  today's  agricultural  youth  by  joining together in a united volunteer effort to assist FFA, promote a greater knowledge of the agricultural industry, and  support  education  in  local  agricultural  education  programs.

FFA is a national organization of over 534,196 members preparing for leadership and  careers  in  the  science, business, and  technology  of  agriculture.  The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization. The National FFA Organization changed to its present name in 1988, in recognition of the growth and diversity of agriculture and agricultural education. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.  The National FFA Organization operates under a Federal Charter granted by the 81st Congress of the United States, and is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture.  The US Department of Education provides leadership and helps set direction for FFA as a service to state and local agricultural education programs.  Visit www.ffa.org for more information.
