Pettisville FFA State Convention May 14, 2012 By Annie Eicher, Reporter
Thirty-three members and chaperones from the Pettisville FFA Chapter recently attended the 84th annual State FFA Convention. Many members were recognized for their outstanding work over the past year. On Thursday morning, 11 FFA members and eighth graders participated in either Agriscience fair or State Proficiency Judging. At the same time, the rest of the FFA members and chaperones took a tour of Anthony Thomas Chocolate Factory. “The making of the chocolate caramel snowmen was a unique and fun experience” commented junior Kelsey Weirauch.
From the Nourishing the Planet group, the chapter was named as one of two first place winners in the Nutrients for Life contest. We received a $5000 check to use on expanding the project. The ag classes explored soil health and shared information on Food Availability and Safety as part of their work for this project.
Taylor Kruse
Pettisville FFA's Taylor Kruse describes her project, comparing rabbit meat to commercial meat products. Taylor, who plans to attend Ohio State, majoring in animal science, describes how this project has given her the technical skills and self-direction that will give her a jump start in college and a career as a large-animal veterinarian.
This is our 50th post on Pettisville FFA members and alumni events. Pettisville.Biz started hosting articles for John Poulson's group in 2010. You can find all their content in our category- FFA
